Seven suitcases, two flights and close to thirty hours of travel later, we arrived in Costa Brava, where the views do most of the talking. We just packed well.
After a brief stop in Hong Kong, we landed in Barcelona and made our way to Begur, a small coastal town that would become home for the week ahead.
We arrived at Finca Victoria; coastal views, sun-soaked interiors and the kind of atmosphere that immediately slows your pace. The perfect place to host our guests for a few days of sun, good food and good clothes.
Needing to re-energise, and nowhere urgent to be, we changed into swimwear and went straight to the beach. Lunch was fresh pasta, followed by an afternoon spent in a quiet cove just minutes from the hotel.
Back in our room, preparations began. Between unpacking and planning, our week was already taking shape. A seaside dinner, room service dessert and an early night felt like the perfect introduction to Spain.
Our first full day in Spain was dedicated to preparation before our guests arrived.
Suitcases were unpacked, outfit options took over every available surface and plans for the week ahead started to come together. Before long, every corner of the hotel suite was filled with clothing racks, garment bags and steaming stations.
Each guest's looks were carefully selected, prepared and packed, ready for the events ahead. Alongside them, gift bags from EAU BAGS, Triangl and Havaianas were waiting in each room.
A charcuterie lunch by the pool offered a brief pause before we returned to final preparations.
Finishing VRG GRL touches were made across the hotel suites and with our guests arriving the following morning, we finished the day with dinner at Finca Victoria, ready to welcome everyone the next day.
Guest arrivals always bring a different energy.
After months of planning from opposite sides of the world, our guests arrived in Costa Brava from across Europe.
The afternoon was spent settling in before everyone gathered for sunset drinks overlooking the Spanish coastline.
The evening continued over dinner, where stories were shared, plans were made and conversations carried on long after the plates had been cleared.
By Thursday, everyone had settled into the slower rhythm of Costa Brava.
The morning began at Horta de la Viola, a local flower farm, selecting fresh white florals that would later become part of our lunch setting.
Back at the hotel, guests dressed for the day's event before we gathered for a long lunch.
After time by the pool, we gathered for sunset cocktails to mark our final night. It felt less like the end of a trip and more like the natural close to a very good week.
With the events behind us, Friday was a chance to pause.
After a slower breakfast, we set off to explore more of Begur, making our way towards Illa Roja. Known for its crystal-clear water - it was the perfect place to spend the morning and reset.
We swam and soaked up the sun, stopping for tapas before a little shopping through the town's local stores.
The afternoon remained intentionally uneventful between sunning on the terrace and nowhere in particular to be.
All good trips end the same way. Slowly at first, then all at once.
An early departure from the hotel marked the beginning of the long journey back to Australia.
Our week in Spain was filled with good company, beautiful places and no reason to rush.
Costa Brava, we'll miss you.
